Wow things are really coming down to the wire now. I would like to start by thanking everyone who has contributed so far. Everyone has been beyond generous and I can't tell you how grateful I am and on behalf of WBR and myself Thank You!
The route is finalized and I will post the map and further details later this week in case anyone is interested. All hotels are booked and I'm happy to finalize details with my dad and wife that will give me a little extra support along the way.
Last year I had some mechanical problems that luckily I was able to fix on the fly. This year I'll have Heather with spare wheels, tubes, etc. up through Escanaba then my dad from Escanaba to Holland where Heather will meet up with us again for the last day.
I also finalized my tire selection by going with the Continental 700x25 Grand Prix 4-Season. With a 330 tpi (threads per inch) this tire will be very supple and comfortable for the duration of the ride yet has a durable sidewall and tread belt to provide good puncture resistance for the entire ride. They are not cheap but I think will be a good selection for the ride. We will see about that as the punishing 1,000 mile terrain will vet any issues pretty quickly.
Well thats about it for now. I am taking the bike into the shop this week for one final check before hitting the road and then it's game time. After all this planning things are really starting to come together.
